The Dwarf (地精種(ドワーフ), Dowāfu) are the 8th ranked race of the Exceed, created by Okein, the god of Forge. They reside in Harden Fell, the second-largest nation on Disboard and is a rivalry nation to the Elves' Elven Gard. While unable to use magic directly, they are best at making magical machinery, as shown by their advanced Dwarven technology in Light Novel Volume 6 during The Great War.

According to Riku, the Dwarf race was "hell-bent on destroying the entire world" giving us more information on the Dwarf's cruelty towards most other races. This is because Okein made them with the philosophy "Everything in the world is made to be forged". [1]Elves despise them the most due to them levelling forest and mountains for materials, as well as hunting Elves to extract their soul stones.

The Dwarves' hair is made of mithril and their eyes are made of orichalcum. All Dwarves grow hair around their bodies but females grow less than males. This results in the men shaping their facial hair while women tend to shave all of it off. For Dwarves, leaving hair on their bodies is a sign of power among males. It is possible that a Dwarf grows no hair down below but this is extremely rare. When a Dwarf is in an Overburst state, his or her hair turns into rusty red color.

Dwarves choose their representatives based on how well they can craft. The current representative is Veig Drauvnil. Previous members include Lóni Drauvnil.

Abilities[]

Strengths[]

The Dwarves are known for being craftsmen and have been blessed from their creator that allows them to create whatever they imagine. No matter how complicated the design, be it warships or underground submarines, it can be built by simply hitting the raw materials with their hammers. The ability to imagine the idea and make it into reality is known as their Sense.

Being the 8th among Ixseeds, Dwarves' affinity for magic reigned beside Elves by utilizing Spirit Arms to serve as conduit to control their otherwise inoperable use of spirit. While Fiel Nirvalen consider this a sign of inferiority, Jibril addressed the fact that Elves had to go through a magic revolution to catch up with their competition. Sora concluded that while creation and use of Spirit Arms involve forging, the complete lack of theory and experiment process define it as being intuition than scientific, befitting a common saying among Dwarves: "Don't Think! Feel!"

Perhaps Dwarves' greatest strength being the forms and functionalities of their devices. Their Spirit Arms allows them to pseudo-cast multiple spells at the same time, which is an ability otherwise exclusive to Elves. Both Lóni Drauvnil and Veig Drauvnil had created mechs that were able to serve as war machines and more importantly, artificial Ethers that are able to alter concepts and bend reality.

Dwarf's physical strength is far stronger than Immanity, as Nýi Tilvilg can easily overpower Sora in a controversial situation despite being shorter and slender.

Weaknesses[]

While the Dwarves can create anything they can imagine, they cannot create anything they cannot imagine, resulting in the possibility of being hemmed in by their own imagination.

In addition, failure is impossible for them and thus unlike humans, their creations cannot lead to anything unexpected and development is slow.

Also, Dwarves require a "catalyst" to use magic. Since their spirits get amplified by their mithril body hair, they could "overload" and blow themsElves up if they attempt to use magic without their Spirit Arms. Nyi is the only known exception that could channel and amplify magic without that happening due to her lack of hair.

History[]

During some point of time in the history, the Dwarves were created by Okein to further his philosophy.

The Dwarves were constantly at war with the Elves. About 25 years before the establishment of the Ten Covenants, a collaborative experiment between the Elves and the Fairies to control "Life" Ixseeds failed, causing the Phantasma Cloud Vortex to go berserk. The Flügels intervened and destroyed all involved facilities, forcing the Elves to spread out their forces for point defenses. Taking advantage of the situation, the Dwarves launched their attacks, beginning with having a high speed fleet luring the Phantasma "Insein Nebia" to attack the Elves' northern city Helluin. The plan backfired, resulting in the Dwarven fleet getting annihilated and the Phantasma captured. However, this was merely a diversion.

After the Elven capital Melruine was put in an exposed position, the main Dwarven fleet led by Lóni Drauvnil launched a full scale assault upon the Elven capital. During his duel with Think Nirvalen, the latter cast the Ja La Anse rite, which disrupted the flow of spirits above the capital and disabled the entire Dwarven fleet. However, it also knocked a passing Jibril out of the sky. Enraged, she cast the Heaven's Strike upon the capital. As a result, the entire Elven capital was obliterated together with the Dwarven fleet, while Lóni escaped amidst the chaos.

24 years later, the Dwarves created the E-Bomb, the most powerful weapon that the world had ever seen, having the power capable of slaying an Old Deus. The Dwarves had planned to test the E-bomb on the Lucia continent, threatening the Werebeasts that were inhabiting the continent. This allowed the plan Riku had set up to go into full motion the moment the predetermined Werebeast broke into the discovered Dwarven facility and fled the continent. This also allowed Riku to confront Think Nirvalen in a game of information pertaining to the Áka Si Anse and the Dwarves. In response to this, the Dwarves became allies with the Gigants as well as several Phantasmas on friendly terms, as a protective measure.

During the final act of the war, almost all races formed a temporary alliance against Artosh when the latter initiates the God's Strike. The Dwarves launched all E-Bombs in their arsenal alongside the Elves' Áka Si Anse and Dragonia's Far Cry to counter the attack. This was then taken advantage by Riku and the Ex-Machina to create the Stalemartyr and end the war.

Form of Government[]

The Dwarf do not have a very complex government, they follow the system that the Race Representative truly makes all decisions according to the race. The Dwarves choose their representatives based upon how well they can craft. It can be assumed that the Dwarves didn't put much thought into government as Veig stated that in the old days, Dwarves solved their problems with their fists.
