Quote Corner The foolish do not know if they are worth less than the dirt they hide in. You can struggle, but you will know that no matter how much of you band together and writhe upon the Earth, you are no strength of the Heavens. Quote Corner2
— Artosh, Light Novel Volume 6

Artosh (戦神(アルトシュ), Arutoshu) is the Creator (or "father" by Azril's definition) of the Flügel and mightiest member of the Old Deus. He is considered the "God of War". He was killed near the end of Great War, before the Ten Covenants were implemented by Tet. His Godly Smite was known to overpower both the E-Bomb and Áka Si Anse.

Appearance

Artosh is a hulk of a man, standing at over double the height of a regular man. He is described as sporting bulging muscles all over his body, a strong black beard, and bright golden eyes. He has 18 pairs of wings on his back that, when not in use, entirely drape over his back like a feathered cape.

Personality

Artosh is extremely prideful, calling himself the 'strongest being alive' and constantly boasting of his unbridled power compared to the other 'weeds'. However, he is also known to be eccentric and mysterious, always hoping for an opponent worthy enough to face him head-on.

He is willing to respect those who he deems as strong and with potential regardless of race, as he regards Riku Dola in high respect despite being a mere Immanity.

Abilities

Strengths

Artosh being the god of war, was immensely powerful during The Great War since Old Deus' power depends on their concepts. He seems incredibly boastful which in itself shows he is extremely confident in his strength even more evident by the fact he never took much action until the end of the war.

Artosh was so powerful that during The Great War, he was able to easily match the other Old Deus at his 33%. The only reason that The Great War lasted for so long is probably because Artosh thrives on war and suffering.

Weaknesses

Like his creations, the Flügel, he is left weakened enough for even the Ex-Machina to kill him towards the end of the war after unleashing his strongest attack "Godly Smite" . Also, since all war and fighting has ended, it could be assumed that he would've become the weakest Old Deus if he survived the last battle.

Background

Artosh originally created the Flügel as a means of dispatching the other Old Deus, with Azril responsible for conveying his will to the rest of the Flügel. After slaying the Dragonia king Hartyleif, he resided in the throne chamber of Avant Heim all day long, giving Azril his orders and then looking down on the world below from atop his throne with disinterest. In order to understand the concept where the strong is bound to lose to the weak, he created Jibril, the final and "irregular" unit blessed with the gift of "imperfection".

However, during the climax of the Great War, when the Ex-Machina collectively reproduced over 1000 Heavenly Smite to provoke the Union, Artosh retaliated by gathering all of the Flügels' power to unleash his ultimate attack, Godly Smite. Firing Godly Smite left Artosh and the Flügel weakened and exhausted, a situation which was exploited by Riku and the Ex-Machina to launch an assault on Avant Heim and take him out.

Though it was stated by many characters that Artosh was killed, Einzig revealed in Volume 9 that they didn't actually kill Artosh, but instead stripped him of his Ether. Therefore, Artosh could actually come back, but the Ten Covenants (which forbade all violence) prevented it from happening.

Quotes

I've grown tired of this charade, and now I must respond. A beam of all my power shall confront the attacks of the weakest. Yes, you monkey.
