<p>Like I said earlier, the contrast theme may show but are not necessarily concrete/absolute. Maybe the author wants it to be spelt differently because it would look strange if it was so blatantly obvious. Or maybe to emphasize the idea that they're in a different world the naming is not spelt the same. There could be many reasons behind naming differentiations from an underlying theme. What matters in this case, however, are not assumptions or interpretations but what the author actually means. That means the best argument is if the author himself actually stated what the names should be in english. Unless we have that, it is simply up to the general public to choose which translated name takes precedence. </p><p>That being said, I did some research and it seems Yen Press (the english translators for ngnl) very recently converted the name to "Schwi." If there are valid sources to confirm that this change was due to talks with Kamiya, then I will agree that Schwi should be the canon name. Until then, I still side with the name "Shuvi" as it is already an ingrained name within society. </p><p>As for Shinku/Sync/Think(?), I have yet to find any evidence to solidify any of these names. However, nowhere have I found people calling her "Think" so far. If possible, might I inquire as to what japanese materials did you draw from for your conclusions? If they are valid, it would make your case stronger as we would have actual evidence rather than anonymous "japanese materials" that could mean many things from poorly translated articles to professional light novel translations. </p>

<p>Despite the contrasting theme, Riku used Schwarz as the name base but "humanized" the word, not shorten it. The reason he changed her name choice is to make it sound less suspicious when she encountered other humans, not for symbolism. In addition, the english translation for the light novel has it as "Shuvi." In this wiki, we consider the closest source to the writer as the canon for spelling and plot. Therefore, the ln translations would be closer to the writer's intent than the movie and anime. </p>

<p>I'd go with Shuvi and Sync. They're pretty close to their romaji names so you could argue that the romanized version does not remove the character's true name (think like it is just removing the "engrish" spelling). </p>

<p>Hmm, rather perplexing situation. I suppose the big question here is whether we consider the light novel translations or the Yen Press translations as more canon. </p><p>For my opinion, I say we should follow that of Yen Press since their translation will be publicized in a large portion of the world thereby having a large influence for that particular translation. As such, over time, more people would probably be more familiar with that translation. We could also choose to leave everything as is but make a note on those particular pages that the Yen Press translation is different. </p>

Modified Shiritori

<p>I figured that since this is the No Game No Life Wikia, why not start up some forum games to honor the anime/light novel/manga. So what's the easiest game to start up? You guessed it, Shiritori. Although not as spectacular as Materialization Shiritori, this game can be started and stopped at anytime and requires very little effort to continue... until we start running out of words and people start calling others out on repeated words, haha. It'll play just like regular shiritori where you must say a word whose beginning letter is the same as the ending of the word before it. Anyone can join and add to it but make sure to avoid repeats. However, I'm going to add a few more rules to keep it straightforward: </p><p>1. No swear words (pretty self-explanatory; we're here to have fun, not start flame wars) </p><p>2. Word must exist in the english language/ no cross language words. (It ruins the fun when no one can respond to a word that uses a letter outside the english language) </p><p>3. Adjectives are allowed but no repeat of the noun (that means you can't answer "blue chair" with "red chair") </p><p>4. If you have something to mention but is not the word you want to use for this game, put your statement in parentheses to distinguish </p><p>The game will end not by time but when the general consensus either gets stuck or we feel like it needs a restart. With those in mind, why don't we begin? I'll start with a tribute to the show: </p><p>Hydrogen bomb </p>
